Paul Barmore

BIO:

I am certified in welding and metallurgy by Bozeman’s Gallatin College, and I’ve specialized in precision TIG welding through Missoula’s University of Montana. Now a full time artist, I scour local scrap yards for used copper and stainless steel to use as my medium for fine art.

It’s not only an exciting challenge to turn one man’s trash into another’s treasure, but this also creates a sustainable business model that benefits my local community.

My sculptures are angler themed and designed to catch the eye of fellow fishermen. As a proud Montana local who grew up fly fishing, I thoroughly enjoy producing artwork that portrays this aspect of Montana’s culture.

PRODUCT:

My sculptures are mostly copper, steel, and stainless steel, all hand forged and welded together to represent traditional fly patterns that any avid fly fisherman will recognize.

I aim to make my sculptures as unique as possible. Welding dissimilar metals together is nontypical and sets my work apart from other metal artists. Thanks to modern TIG welding technology, I am able to form these sculptures with a variety of metals and achieve a distinctive style to my artwork. This alongside my eccentric patina work and vibrant flame painting guarantees each client a one of a kind, unrepeatable sculpture.

BUSINESS DESCRIPTION:

Big Sky Flies provides the customer with large scale fly fishing sculptures using locally sourced recycled materials. Each sculpture pays homage to the art of angling, memorializes fishing memories, and commemorates our fly fishing tradition.
